Channing Chu

Biography

Channing Chu is a New Zealand-born pianist who is currently studying piano under Jason Bae. He takes piano performance at the University of Auckland where he studies piano under Sarah Watkins. Channing was awarded the ARSM diploma in 2017 with the highest mark in New Zealand History at the time. He has also achieved Distinction in his DipABRSM exam in 2018, and in 2019 achieved an NCEA Scholarship in music. He was a finalist in the 2021 Aegio International Piano Competition as well as the 2021 Nomea International Piano Competition. He was awarded Second Prize in the Paderewski in Memoriam International Piano Competition as well as the Silver Award in the London Youth Piano Competition. He was also awarded third prize in the 2021 Chopin Avenue international competition.
