Valentina Vatteroni

Biography

Valentina Vatteroni (1997) started her musical education when she was eight years old at the Music School in Carrara, her home town. She continued her studies at the Conservatory of Music “Giacomo Puccini” of La Spezia, with the teacher Lisetta Rossi, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 2018 and a Master’s Degree in 2020 with highest mark: 110/110 Cum Laude and Honorable Mention. During her academic studies, she had the opportunity of being an Erasmus student twice; she attended her last year of Bachelor Degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, with the harpist Jana Boušková, and her last six months of Master Degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, with the harpist Imogen Barford. She is currently attending a 2nd level Master course in HARP Soloist/orchestral specialization at the Conservatory of Music “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan. 

As an orchestral harpist, in 2020 she won the audition for the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra for the summer festival 2020 and 2021. She also won the audition for the Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona y Nacional de Cataluña (OBC), as second harp. She has worked with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, based in Palermo at the Politeama Garibaldi theatre, for overall two years. Her orchestral experience includes also collaborations with the Orchestra Musica Omnia (opera) in Florence, the Orchestra Filarmonica “Vittorio Calamani”, the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra (London) and the UBU ensemble (contemporary music, London).

She attended the Course Professione Orchestra 2020, an advanced training for future orchestra professionals held by Mrs. Margherita Bassani (1st harp OSN RAI). She took part in many masterclasses held by international harpists such as M° Fabrice Pierre, M° Helga Storck, M° Alexander Boldachev, M° Manja Smits, M° Letizia Belmondo. In 2017 she won a scholarship to attend a full week of classes at the St. Peterburg Conservatory.

She won the First Overall Prize at the International Competition “Città Murata” and at the IX International Competition Giovani Musicisti Premio “Antonio Salieri”. The First Price at the International Competition Riviera della Versilia “Daniele Ridolfi” and at the Iscart International Music Competition. The Second Prize at the International Competition "Giovani Musicisti - Città di Treviso". 

She has performed both as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles in Italy, Belgium, Germany and UK; she has also performed as a soloist with orchestra the G. F. Händel’s Harp Concerto and the Concerto for flute, harp and orchestra by W. A. Mozart.
