Biography

Harpist Hyejin Kim, began playing the harp at the age of six and discovered her passion for the harp through Ms. Sophia Steckeler in Germany when she was eight. Hyejin studied at Yewon School with Ms. Hyun Sun Na and later at Seoul Arts High School with Ms. Jeehye Yu in Seoul, South Korea.
Since 2017, she has been studying music with Mr. Fabrice Pierre and his teaching assistants Mr. Sylvain Blassel and Mr. Park Stickney at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon (CNSMD) in France.

She is a laureate of International Competitions. At the age of 13, she has received first place distinctions at various music competitions in South Korea and at the Lily Laskine International Harp Competition in Paris. She has won third place at the Soka Nippon International Harp Competition in Japan at the age of 11, second place - the first place being unassigned - with a special prize by the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra at the International Harp Competition in Szeged, Hungary, at the age of 15 in 2016 and also first place at the Berthold Hummel Competition in Würzburg in 2019.

Hyejin is an active soloist and has been offered to make solo appearances on accompanied orchestral performances. At the age of 7, she performed the "Harp Concerto No.6 in B-flat Major" by G. F. Händel with the Korean Broadcasting System Symphony Orchestra in 2009. She also performed the "Concertino pour harpe et instruments à cordes" by J. Michel Damase with the Korea Telecom Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Taekju Lee in 2014, and "Concerto for Harp in A Major" by K. D. von Dittersdorf with the Yewon Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Jong-gi Lee in 2016. In 2018, she made a performance with the MÁV Symphony Orchestra by performing "Danses" by Debussy and "Introduction et Allegro" by Ravel in Vienna, Austria, and Budapest, Hungary.

Hyejin has also been invited to perform internationally as a soloist. She gave a recital at the "50th Gargilesse Summer Festival" in 2017. In 2016, she performed in the "Stars of Tomorrow” Concert as part of the 10th USA International Harp Competition at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
During this summer, she gave her solo recital at Kumho art hall in Seoul, South Korea.
