Biography
Born into a family of musicians, Balázs Dolfin (23) started to play the cello at the age of 4. Within a few years, he won two national and chamber music competitions in Hungary. In 2010, at the age of 12, he got accepted to the Department for the Exceptionally Gifted Students at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, and started to study with Prof. László Mező. In the following years he won numerous awards and first prizes at international competitions in Austria, Italy and Croatia. In 2016 he was supported by the Bank of China Scholarship and the Annie Fischer Scholarship of the Hungarian Government. In 2018 he studied in Germany with Prof. Gustav Rivinius. He is currently doing his Master studies under the direction of Prof. Wen-Sinn Yang at the famous Hochschule für Musik und Theater München.
Despite his young age, he has given several recitals across Europe: in Paris, London, Germany, or the Netherlands – besides such renowned Hungarian concert halls as the Grand Hall of the Liszt Academy and the Palace of Arts, the Marble Hall of the Hungarian Radio, the Béla Bartók Memorial House, among others. In 2017 he was awarded by the Junior Príma Award, the most prestigious Hungarian award for young artists.
