Biography

Claire Moncharmont is a french harpist born in Versailles, and based in Gothenburg, Sweden. She began the harp at the age of 8 in the Conservatory of Versailles and did her studies in the class of Françoise de Maubus. In 2017 Claire Moncharmont graduated with a bachelor’s degree at the Centro Superior de Musica del Pais Vasco in San Sebastian (Spain) under Christine Icart, in the speciality of harp performance and chamber music. In 2019 Claire Moncharmont graduated with a master's degree in solo harp performance and chamber music at the Academy of Music in Oslo (Norway) under Isabelle Perrin. She continued her studies under Erik Groenestein-Hendriks in the Academy of Music and Drama in the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, in the Master focused in orchestra performance. She has received advices from Françoise Friedrich, Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Sandrine Chatron, Sylvain Blassel, Nikolaz Cadoret, and Masumi Nagasawa among others.

She plays on a regular basis with several orchestras such as the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra. She has had perform with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Swedish Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, The Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Euskadi among others.

Winner of several auditions, she had the opportunity to perform a solo harp recital in the festival “Quincena musical” in San Sebastian in 2017, she also performed as a soloist with the sinfonieta of Musikene, San Sebastian, and with the Symphonic Orchestra Academy in Goteborg. In 2020 she got awarded by the Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien National Scholarship.

Claire gives concerts in France, Sweden, Norway and Spain with a rich and varied repertoire as a soloist and in chamber music. She likes to explore all the repertoire from baroque music to new written pieces to show the unlimited possibilities of her instrument.
