Biography
Born in New York, violinist Madeleine Vaillancourt made her Carnegie Hall Debut performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra at the age of 17. Since then she has been featured as a soloist with numerous other orchestras including the Karajan Academy der Berliner Philharmoniker, New York Chamber Players, the Colburn Orchestra, and the National Repertory Orchestra. For three summers, Madeleine was a full-scholarship student at the Aspen Music Festival. As the winner of Aspen’s concerto competition in 2015, she was featured as a soloist with the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Hugh Wolff, performing Mozart’s fourth Violin Concerto. Madeleine is a graduate of the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, where she studied with Robert Lipsett. At Colburn, she was a member of the award-winning Alma String Quartet, and co-concertmaster of the Colburn Orchestra. In 2019, Madeleine joined the Karajan Academy, where she regularly performed as a member of the Berliner Philharmoniker and studied with Thomas Timm. During her time at the Academy, she won a position with the NDR Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, where she currently lives and works.
