Biography
Hawijch Elders studies with Ilya Grubert at the Conservatory of Amsterdam since 2016, previously with Benzion Shamir.
She participated to masterclasses with amongst others Shlomo Mintz, Ivry Gitlis, and Pierre Amoyal. She performed as soloist in the Beethoven, Sibelius, Britten, Dvořák and Tchaikovsky violin concertos with amongst others the Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Orquestra Clássica da Madeira, The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.
Hawijch Elders received prizes amongst others at the 37th ‘Premio Rodolfo Lipizer’ International Violin Competition, Dutch National Violin Competition ‘Oskar Back’, laureate of the 3rd Oleh Krysa International Violin Competition 2019. The Kersjes Foundation awarded her the “Kersjes Vioolbeurs” 2019.
Most recently she was chosen as a finalist of the Dutch Classical Talent, in season 2021-2022.
In May 2021 she was awarded 2nd prize at the Odesa International Violin Competition.
In June 2021 she won the 1st Prize in the Leonid Kogan International Competition for Young Violinists.
Hawijch Elders plays a violin by Gennaro Gagliano and a bow by Jean Pierre Marie Persoit, on loan from the Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation. The violin is part of the ‘collection Willem G. Vogelaar’.
