Biography

Serafina Jaffé was born in Berlin in 1998. When she was 4 years old Serafina started playing the Cello. At the age of 12, she realised her musical dream and began her Harp studies with Susanne Heutling. Two years later, at the age of 14, she was invited by the "Brandenburgische Staatsorchester Frankfurt Oder" to perform G. F. Händel's Harp concerto. Her first orchestral appearance was followed by various other concerts with professional orchestras. Among the pieces, which Serafina has performed, were the "Dances for Harp and Orchestra" by C. Debussy and the "Concerto for Flute, Harp and Orchestra" by W. A. Mozart.

All of these performances let her to perform in different countries like Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Latvia and others.

In June 2017 Serafina won the competition "Jugend Musiziert" receiving the 1st prize with the highest possible score, as well as four extra awards for exceptional achievement. She thereupon was invited for the "Marler Debüt", a series of traditional concerts, where the audience could hear the "Concerto for Harp and Orchestra" by Fr. A. Boieldieu.

In addition, she played as a substitute in orchestras such as the "Brandenburgische Staatsorchester Frankfurt Oder", the "Tiroler Festspiele in Erl" and the "Landestheater Innsbruck".

Since October 2018 she studies the Harp with Prof. Margit-Anna Süß at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz.

In February 2019 Serafina received the 2nd prize at the international "ReinlWettbewerb" in Munich.

In May 2020 she was selected to record the „Concerto for Flute, Harp and Orchestra“ by W. A. Mozart with the Orchestra of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Serafina is a member of the "Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra", in addition she plays with the "Junge Deutsche Philharmonie".
