Biography

Born in 1997, Ms. Jeon started to play the piano at the age of 6 years old. She is the 1st prize winner at Eumyoun competition, Yewon competition, Music journal competition and the prize winner at the Korea Chopin competition.

In 2017, she became the first youngest winner at the Delia Steinberg International Piano Competition in Spain. Also in 2018, she took a second place at the Concours International Jean Françaix in France (1st prize not awarded) and got a special prize for the interpretation of Beethoven works at the Anton Rubinstein International Competition in Germany.

Hyein Jeon studied at the Yewon middle art school and was selected to play for the regular concert as a school representative. Graduated with honors Ms. Jeon entered Seoul arts high school where she received excellence awards for her performances. She then took top place at the overall entrance exam of Seoul National University and received a full scholarship.

Currently she moved to Germany to complete study in piano performance under Professor Igor Levit and Olivier Gardon at Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover.

Ms. Jeon made her solo debut through the Kumho Prodigy Concert Series in 2012, and has been invited to give recitals for the Yamaha Little Pianist Series and the Cultural day Series under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Korea. She has performed in Italy with the invitation of the Fondazione William Walton e La Mortella and has been re-invited by her successful performance. Recently, she continued her interest in contemporary music and premiered work of A. Abedian.

Her interest stretches also to the chamber music at which she won several prizes for her ensemble performance. As an ensemble player, she played not only in Korea but also in Malaysian performances.
