Donatas Butkevicius

Biography

Donatas Butkevičius finished his bachelor studies at Prof. Donatas Bagurskas double bass class at the Lithuania Music and Theatre Academy in 2014, and his master studies at Prof. Povilas Jacunskas chamber ensemble class in 2016. Donatas Butkevičius also studied in Brno, Czech Republic, in Prof. Miloslav Jelinek double bass class with the help of the ERASMUS student exchange program.

Donatas Butkevičius is a laureate of a few international competitions in Lithuania and Czech Republic, both as a soloist and as a member of chamber ensembles. He is a winner of the International Double Bass Competition in 2016, which was held in Holice, Czech Republic, in 2018 Donatas Butkevičius became finalist of Leoš Janaček International Competition in Brno.

Donatas Butkevičius is a member of Contemporary Music Ensemble Synaesthesis and Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra since 2013 and a member of the Lithuanian Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble Musica Humana from 2011.
