Linda Lukas

Biography

Linda Lukas is a violinist originally from Tartu, Estonia. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal Conservatoire the Hague under the hand of Lisa Jacobs. Her violin teachers have also been Kristina Kriit, Andres Leivategija and Kadri Palu.

Since her studies in Heino Eller Music College in the years 2007-2019, Linda started taking interest in classical and jazz improvisation, which have been a great influence on her playing style. She has been inspired by the music of theatre, having the opportunity to act in Vanemuine Theatre for 6 years, arrange and play the violin in the theatre field.

Linda has participated in classical violin masterclasses by Lisa Jacobs, Mi-Kyung Lee, Mari Tampere-Bezrodny, Anna-Liisa Bezrodny, Boris Abramov, Stanislav Pronin, Rūta Lipinaitytė, Arvo Leibur, Kaido Välja, Florian Donderer, Nicolas Dautricourt, etc., various music festivals/courses, national and international competitions. She won the South-Estonian String Competition in 2015 and regional competitions in 2014 and 2016, received the 3rd prize in the Competition of Young Interprets of Estonian Music Schools in 2014, the second prize in the Competition “The Best Young Instrumentalist” (Tallinn, 2016), the 1st prize in the International Baltic Competition for Young Musicians (Riga, 2017) and the 3rd price in the International City of Filadelfia Competitions named after the Philadelphia musician Paolo Serrao (Filadelfia, 2016).

In addition to her solo career, Linda has performed with many different ensembles, including the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Järvi Academy Youth Symphony and Chamber Orchestras smaller ensembles. In October 2021 she toured with the Animato Chamber Orchestra, having concerts in Wiener Konzerthaus, halls in Berlin, Prague and other cities in Austria and Germany. She has been a soloist in front on Heino Eller Tartu Music College’s and Emīls Dārziņš Music School’s symphony orchestras.
