Biography

Carmen Dreßler, born in Leipzig 1997, received her first cello lessons at the age of 6 from Renate Pank. She currently studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Clemens Hagen.

At age 14, she began studying at the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig with Anna Niebuhr, as a pre-college student. Thus following, she completed her "Bachelor of Music" with Peter Bruns in Leipzig, graduating with honors.

Carmen attended several masterclasses, for instance with Wenn-Sin Yang, Sebastian Klinger, Troels Svane, Norman Fischer and Michael Sanderling.
Moreover, she had the opportunity to perform as a soloist with orchestras, such as the "Stuttgarter Kammerorchester”, the "Philharmonisches Orchester Altenburg-Gera", the "Leipziger Sinfonieorchester", the "Neusäßer Kammerorchester" and the “Akademisches Orchester Leipzig”, amongst others in the Great Hall of the Gewandhaus Leipzig.

More concert invitations to perform as a soloist or as a chamber musician, in Germany or abroad followed by the "Cellofestival Spiekeroog“, "Schwandorfer Klavierfrühling", "Sandsteinfestival", "Musikfest Dürrenmungenau“, "Kurt Weill Fest" and the "Allegro vivo Festival" in Verona.

Furthermore, she gives concerts with several chamber orchestra formations and completed an internship with the MDR-Symphony Orchestra.

Additionally, Carmen Dreßler won a 1st price at the chamber music competition of the HMT Leipzig and several prices at the "Bundeswettbewerb Jugend Musiziert" in various categories. Likewise, she was a finalist in the international interpretation competition „Verfemte Musik“ Schwerin.

Moreover, she took part in CD recordings, radio and television productions with the Klaus Jürgen Kamprad publishing company on the occasion of the Max Reger Festival.

With the JULICA-piano trio she recorded the CD "Voyage interiéur". In addition to that she is a member of the Satyr String Quartet.

Carmen Dreßler holds a scholarship at the chamber music foundations " Villa Musica" and "Musethica", whereby she had the pleasure to perform thus far with soloists, such as Martin Beaver and Christoph Coin.

Furthermore, she regularly gives concerts in the context of "Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Leipzig e. V.".

Carmen Dreßler has been a Germany Scholarship holder since 2020.
