Biography
Domenico Ermirio was born 1990 in Genoa (Italy) and he has been playing cello since he was eight. He took the first degree ‘with honors’ in 2008 at Genoa's Conservatorio “N. Paganini” in the class of Nevio Zanardi. Then he studied with Dario Destefano in Turin. Meanwhile he graduated in Architectural Restoration at the Genoa's University, and in Summer 2016 he successfully obtained the Master of arts in Music Performance - Cello with Johannes Goritzki in Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, Lugano (Switzerland).
A large part of his music activity has been in chamber music groups with different projects and performances with many ensembles in Italy, France, Finland, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium. In 2015 he started a collaboration with Finnish pianist Folke Gräsbeck with many performances in Italy, France and Finland. Together they have performed, beside the more traditional repertoire (such as Franck, Grieg and Beethoven Sonatas) the whole cello and piano production by Jean Sibelius and Ferruccio Busoni.
Since 2005 he has worked together with many Italian orchestras, among which Orchestra Sinfonica di Chiavari, Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino, Orchestra Sinfonica “G. Verdi” di Milano and Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza. During the years 2018 and 2019 he has been co-principal cellist in the Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie in Germany and he has actually the same role in the orchestra of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège (Belgium).
