Petar Pejčić was born into a musical family in 2002 and received his first cello lessons at the age of four. After his musical beginnings in Belgrade, he moved to Germany in 2017 to continue his education at the University of Music and Theater ,,Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’’ in Leipzig with Prof. Peter Bruns.

He is the winner of numerous national and international competitions. He won the "AENA Special Prize" at the renowned Pablo Casals competition (Spain, 2020), Second Prize at the International Anna Kull competition (Austria, 2020) and Third Prize at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition (Germany, 2018). Other prizes and awards: "ArtLink Société Générale - Most Promising Young Musician for 2018’’; Alexander Glazunov competition; Liezen competition; Heran competition as well as being first and special prize winner at the Serbian State Competition (Belgrade 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016).

At the age of nine Petar made his solo concert debut in Belgrade, after which he gave several concerts and recitals in Serbia, Slovenia, the USA, Russia, Switzerland, France, Germany, etc. As a soloist he has performed with orchestras such as Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Graz Philharmonic, Serbian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Stanislav Binički Orchestra, Belgrade Chamber Orchestra Ljubica Marić, Camerata Balcanica and many others.

He was a participant in master classes with Jan Vogler, Franz Helmerson, Joseph Schwab, István Várdai and received important musical impulses from Mischa Maisky, Wen-Sinn Yang and David Geringas, among others. Since 2015 Petar has been regularly partaking in the ,,Meisterschüler-Meister’’ masterclasses in Neuhardenberg (Germany) as well as the Moritzburg Festival Academy. As a chamber musician, he has performed with well-known artists such as Friedemann Eichhorn, Mira Wang, Pauline Sachse, Florian Uhlig and Antti Siirala.

Out of great passion to broaden his musical horizons came the special collaboration with the choreographer Jacopo Godani and the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company. The resulting work "Hollow Bones" shows a new perspective on the relationship between musicians and dancers. In 2020 he assumed the role of ambassador for the Pablo Casals Foundation. He is a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein, the Yehudi Menuhin - Live Music Now Foundation, the Freunde Junger Musiker Foundation and the Dr. Hübner Foundation. In 2021 he received the Günter Henle-Scholarship of the Peter Klöckner-Foundation (in the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben).

Petar plays a cello made by Stephan von Baehr (2012, Paris), on loan from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
