The Japanese international pianist, Ryutaro Suzuki is one today’s most promising talents. He has already performed in several important festivals in Europe, such as Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad (Switzerland), Festival de Nohant (France) and Festival Chopin in Paris. He has also performed as a soloist with orchestras, such as Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, National Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, Orchestra of the Conservatory of Paris and Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
He was born in Kamakura, a medieval capital of Japan, and then moved to Paris in 2008, to study at the Conservatory of Paris (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris), where he attended the classes of Bruno Rigutto, Hortense Cartier-Brésson, Michel Béroff and Michel Dalberto. During his Master’s degree, he put a special emphasis on Liszt’s paraphrase pieces from different operas. He also worked under the tutorship of Marta Grabocz (Université de Strasbourg). At the present time, he is receiving further guidance from Eliso Virsaladze, a Georgian pianist. He also has received artistic advices of Sergio Perticaroli, Gabriel Tacchino, Juan Lago and Murray Perahia.
Ryutaro Suzuki also received many prizes in international piano competitions. Among others: 1st prize at the 17th International Piano Competition Ile-de-France, 2nd prize at the 6th International Piano Competition in memory of Emil Gilels, Maurice Ravel Prize at the Ravel International Academy, two special prizes at the 6th International Tbilisi Piano Competition, and the Best interpretation of Spanish music at the 27th International Piano Competition Ciudad de Ferrol.
He currently resides in Paris and performs throughout Europe, South America, as well as in Japan, where his career started by the age of 9, after giving his first concerto performance as a soloist.
His rich repertoire varies from Baroque to contemporary, which is shown in his discography as well; Scarlatti, Mozart, Ravel, Liszt for his first album (Claves records/LabelG, 2017) and Debussy, Ibert, Otaka for his second album (Editions Hortus, 2020). In 2016, he did the world premier of “Jazz Etude” by T.Escaich.
