Ilias Nachmias

Biography

Ilias Nachmias, born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 2003, began studying the violin at age 5. He currently studies at State Conservatory of Thessaloniki for 9 years, under prof. Irina Dragneva. He has performed with Thessaloniki Symphony Orchestra at Thessaloniki Concert Hall at age 10 and 15. Afterwards, he gave his first recital at age 13. He has served as a Concert Master at the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Greece, by which he has participated at a numerous concerts and also, a member of Rotonta Strings Ensemble under the supervision of Irina Dragneva. During these years, he has won several competitions, such as “The Children of Paganini” (1st prize) in Bulgaria in 2014, the International Web Competition “The Muse” (2 nd place) in 2018 and in 2019, Panhellenic Competition “Tassos Papas” (1st prize)2019, Music box (grand prize) 2020,Unesco Competition(2nd prize)2020. Also, he has participated in many masterclasses with Christos Galileas, and the renowned worldclass soloist, Ivry Gitlis. He now studies wih scholarship in the Buchmann-Mehta school  of music in Tel Aviv University .
