Biography
Anna Katrīna Paukšēna is a young promising Latvian cellist. She was born on 6th May 2001 in Riga, Latvia. Anna has participated in many international competitions and has improved her skills with many great cellists. Also she enjoys chamber music and has made achievements with various ensembles. Anna is able to captivate listeners with her charisma and a bright emotional world.
Anna has participated in various international competitions and won prizes. In 2016, Anna won III prize at the K. Davidov International Cello competition in Kuldīga, Latvia. She won III prize at the Klaipeda International Cello competition 2017 in Klaipeda, Lithuania. In 2018, Anna won the I prize at the National competition Final in Latvia.
In 2018, Anna was invited to perform in the 18th International Bach Chamber Music Festival in Latvia. In 2019, she was invited to participate in a concert with Latvian National Symphony Orchestra cello ensemble “Dream team”.
Anna has participated in many masterclasses with great cellists - Alexander Buzlov (Russia), Tian Bonian (Germany), Franz Bartolomey (Austria), Kristina Blaumane (Latvia, UK), Evgeny Rumyantsev (Russia), Marko Ylönen (Finland). From 2012 till 2014, Anna participated in orchestra and cello masterclasses at International Summer Academy Frankenfels in Austria by Yuri Bashmet. It was a great starting point for the artist's future.
Since 2007, Anna was studying music at Emīls Dārziņš music school in Riga, Latvia. She was studying cello with Arvīds Tareila (2007-2009), Romāns Trautmans (2009-2017) and Professor Emeritus Ellionora Testeļeca (2017-2020). Since 2020, she is studying cello with Prof. Martti Rousi at Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki, Finland.
