Biography
Joachim Jamaer (° 1997) received his first cello lessons from the age of 4 with Koen Berger and later also with Rudy Froyen at the Hasselt Conservatory, where he graduated with the greatest distinction. He received his Bachelor's degree at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Olsi Leka with distinction.
In addition to his conservatory studies, he attended numerous master classes in, among others, Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary and Switzerland. Here he was guided by internationally renowned musicians such as Pieter Wispelwey, Wen-Sinn Yang, Jan Kalinowski, Tormod Dalen, Erkkhi Lahesmaa, Adrian Brendel, Gregor Horsch and Leonid Gorokhov. In addition, in 2018-2019 he was an Academist in the Symphony Orchestra of the Mint, where he was coached by Georgi Anichenko, Sébastien De Walnier and Corinna Lardin.
He is very active as chamber musician, having played and performed in various ensembles and concerts throughout Europe. He also participated in masterclasses for chamber music with Katy Sebesteyen, Barnabas Kellemen, Valeriy Sokolov, Ralf Gothoni, Lucas Blondeel, Jeremy Menuhin, Gerald Fauth and Herbert Schuch.
He performs as an orchestra musician throughout Belgium and Europe in orchestras such as the National Orchestra of Belgium, Euregio Youth Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of the Mint. He also performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including Constellations Musicales, Musate, Panta Rei, AMAJ Limburg (thanks to winning the Flemish Soloist Competition) and the Hasselt Symphony Orchestra.
In February 2020 he performed the 1st Cello Concerto of J. Haydn with the St-Petersburg Youth Symphony Orchestra in Sheremetev Palace, St-Petersburg.
He continues his studies in the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt, in the class of Michael Sanderling.
