Biography
Kārlis Gusts Zariņš is one of the most talented young Latvian pianists. He was born on 23rd July 2001 in Sigulda, Latvia. Kārlis especially is standing out with his creativity and depth of musical understanding. He has ability to express music in a special characteristic way. Kārlis has proven his high work ability and great purposefulness. He has participated in international competitions and has improved his skills with great pianists.
In 2019, Kārlis was invited to perform in festival “Born in Latvia ” as soloist with festival orchestra and with organist Iveta Apkalna. Soon after, he was invited to participate in festival “Organismi” as soloist with Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and together with organist Iveta Apkalna.
Kārlis has participated in many masterclasses with great pianists - Andrejs Osokins (Latvia), Reinis Zariņš (Latvia), Artūrs Cingujevs (Latvia), Antti Siirala (Finland), Hamsa Al-Wadi Juris (Finland), Igor Kotlyarevsky (Russia) and others.
From 2008 till 2014, Kārlis was studying music at Sigulda School of Arts Baltais Flīģelis in Sigulda, Latvia. He was studying piano with teacher Daina Samta. From 2014 till 2020 he was studying piano at Emīls Dārziņš music school in Riga, Latvia with teacher Sandra Jalaņecka. Since 2020, he is studying piano with Hamsa Al-Wadi Juris at Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki, Finland.
