Biography
Evgeny commenced his studies as a double bass player at the age of 10 under the tutorship of Mikhail Lapis while living in Irkutsk. Evgeny graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory as a student of Professor Alexander Shilo; he completed his qualification apprenticeship at the same Conservatory. In 2016, he finished his studies as a Fulbright Program student of Professor Eugene Levinson. Since 2019, Evgeny has been employed with the Mariinsky Theatre as Acting Concertmaster of double bass group.
The laureate of international competitions:
2008 - The winner of Regional Competition for Stringed Instruments (Irkutsk);
2010 - The winner of II Open Interregional Competition for Young Performers on Bowed Instruments (Irkutsk);
2013 – The winner at V Kusevitzky International Competition (St. Petersburg).
He was a participant of master classes by Christine Hoock, Petru Iuga, Klaus Trumpf, Rinat Ibrahimov, Eugene Levinson, Thomas Martin, Alberto Bocini, Jeff Bradetich, Miloslav Jelinek, Eric Hansen, Miloslav Gajdos.
He played as the soloist with such Orchestras as Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, St. Petersburg State Academic Orchestra, St. Petersburg Academic Capella, Irkutsk Region Governor`s Symphony Orchestra.
He cooperated with such Conductors as Valery Gergiev, Alexei Vasiliev, Christian Knapp, Nimrod Pfeffer, Leonard Elschenbroich, Lorenz NasturicaHerschcowici, Alim Shakh, Alexander Titov, Igor Manasherov.
Participant of international festivals: "Musical Olympus", "Planet Double Bass", "Music in Trancoso" (Brazil), "Moscow Easter Festival».
In 2010 at the Small hall of the St.Petersburg Philharmonia the premiere took place – Evgeny Ryzhkov soloed in dedicated to him Double bass concerto by Mikhail Lapis.
