Vlad Ratiu

Biography

I began studying music at the age of 15, in my home town of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, after an odd turn of events prevented me from studying architecture. Approaching the double bass not by choice but because of being guided by teachers to do so, soon enough, it turned into a subject of interest, and later on, a sort of obsession.
Currently, at 23, I am following a masters program at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, Netherlands with Prof. Sorin Orcinschi.
Happy and humbled to have had the opportunity to meet, learn from, and/or perform alongside a great deal of musical personalities. To name just a few: Wynton Marsalis, Michael Sanderling, Lothar Zagrosek, Vladimir Jurowsky, Sorin Orcinschi, Stefan Thomasz, Dorin Marc, Catalin Rotaru, Petru Iuga, Kostyak Botond, Cristian Braica, Gunars Upatnieks.
