Biography
Olivia Edmundson-Andrade began studying the violin in 2003 at the age of 4 with Ruth Forbes, a Scottish national who studied at the Royal College in London. At the age of 10, Olivia auditioned for and was accepted to an integrated middle school program at the Escola de Musica do Conservatorio Nacional (EMCN) in Lisbon. She studied there with Russian schooled Portuguese violinist Luis Pacheco Cunha from 2009 to 2015.
In 2017 Olivia began her University studies at the Escola Superior de Musica de Lisboa (ESML) with Venezuelan violinist Ana Beatriz Manzanilla. She transferred to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2019 where she currently studies with Maya Iwabuchi and Greg Lawson.
Olivia studied and performed opera and chamber music with the Zezerearts Music Festival in the summers of 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017. She participated in the Estagio Gulbenkian de Orquestra (EGO) in the summers of 2018 and 2019. Olivia was one of a small group selected from the EGO to participate in two programs with the Gulbenkian Orchestra. She performed Szymanowski's 3rd Symphony in 2018 and Mahler's 3rd Symphony in 2019 with the Gulbenkian Orchestra conducted by Lorenzo Viotti. In 2019 Olivia was awarded 1st prize in Concurso Nacional Cidade do Montijo and 2nd prize in Concurso Internacional Cidade do Fundao. She also won a competition at ESML which gave her the opportunity to perform as a soloist the Khachaturian violin concerto with the university's orchestra.
