Gyutae Kim

Biography

Gyutae Kim, born 1988 in Seoul, started to play the violin and piano at the age of 5. He took piano lessons from Prof. Dae-Jin Kim and graduated the Yewon Music School in Seoul.
As a teenager, Gyutae Kim was awarded prizes at various competitions in Korea, including the piano competition of the Hankook daily music competition, the Eumyoun competition and the Nanpa music competition.
He made his debut at the age of 12, playing Beethoven piano concerto No.3 with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.

He moved to Moscow and took piano lessons from Prof. Alexander Mndoyants at the Central Music School of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. During this time his interest in conducting developed and he took conducting lessons from Viacheslav Valeev.
In Russia Gyutae Kim gave numerous piano concerts such as in Malry hall, Rachmaninov hall and CMS concert hall.
He was invited to the Moscow Chamber Orchestra Festival (by Daimler Chrysler AG) and conducted the Chamber Orchestra of the Central Music School.

In 2015 he graduated his bachelor's degree at the State University for Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart in the class of Prof. Nicolas Hodges.
During his compulsory military service from 2016 to 2018, he played a major role as a piano solo in the navy band and performed  in 13 countries worldwide, including the USA, Russia, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, New Zealand and Australia.

Gyutae has been a prize winner, including the Frist Prize at the 16th Pianotaste International piano competition (Germany), 5th Propiano International competition (Spain) and Special prize at the OPUS2021 International music competition (Poland). 

He has participated in lessons and master class with numerous concert pianist, including Bella Davidovich, Joaquin Soriano, Peter Eicher, Michel Dalberto, Wiliam Grant Nabore, Ilja Scheps, Anna Vinnitskaya.

Gyutae Kim graduated his master's degree at the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart.
Kim is an advanced studies at the same university, where he studies under Prof. Friedemann Rieger.
