Biography
Emilia Lappalainen began to play the violin at the age of five in the Jokilaaksot Music Institute, where her violin teachers were Tomasz Orzech and Janne Jääskelä. Currently Emilia studies at the Oulu Conservatory where her violin teacher is Maarit Karppelin. She also studies at the Sibelius-Academy youth department where her violin teacher is Emilia Lajunen.
Emilia has taken part in summer courses in Kuhmo Chamber Music, Kohtalona Käläviä and in the Haapavesi Folk -festival. In these summer courses she has been taught by the following violin teachers: Päivyt Meller (Sibelius-Academy), Petri Aarnio (Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra), Heini Eklund (Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra), Silva Koskela (Tempera Quartet) by Piia Kleemola, Esko Järvelä (Frigg) and Päivi Hirvonen.
Emilia won 2nd prize from the ”Rising Talents of Europe” Great Composers competition 2021 and third prize from the ENKOR international violin competition 2020. She won the 1st prize from the Great Composers Competition 2017 and she came 2nd at the Great Composers Competition 2016 and she got honorable mention from the ENKOR Competition 2016.
As a soloist Emilia performed at the ”Nuorten Luosto Classic” - music camp 2019 with the NLC -orchestra works by Jean Sibelius: Romance and Mazurka for violin and orchestra.
She performed as a soloist the 1st movement of Vivaldi’s A Minor Violin concerto with the Haapavesi Chamber Orchestra (HAKO) 2017. Orchestra-playing-experience she has from playing with HAKO, Virtuoso Futuro di Kälviä -String Orchestra and the NLC-orchestra. In Autumn 2020 she began to play at the VIVO Youth Symphony Orchestra.
She has performed also at the Passauer Saiten -Festival in Passau, Germany and at the Uuden Musiikin Lokakuu -Festival in Oulu, Finland.
She has played over 100 gigs with folk music group ”Miukeli". Miukeli released their debut album in summer 2020. Her other hobbies are skiing and dancing.
