Biography
The Hungarian cellist Endre F. Stankowsky was born 7 July 1988 in Szombathely, Hungary. He
received his first cello lesson at the age of 7 in the local music school. Since a young age he remarked
himself as a very talented student, winning many national and international competitions. He studied
Bachelor in Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest under Márta and László Mező (2007-2010).
Later on he made his Master degree in University of Performing Arts Graz, Austria under the guidance
of Prof. Rudolf Leopold (2012-2016). He Graduated all his studies with honor.
Endre F. Stankowsky is winner of numerous international competitions, among which we recall David
Popper International Competition, Hungary (2009); Liezen International Cello Competition, Austria
(2014), III. S. Knushevitsky International Competition, Russia (2016); Berlin Debut International
Competition, Germany (2017). He has collaborated with many important figures of the musical world
as David Geringas, Boris Kushnir, Orfeo Mandozzi, Ferenc Rados, Rudolf Leopold, Anna Netrebko,
Plácido Domingo etc.
As a soloist, Endre F. Stankowsky debuted in 2014 in Musikverein, Graz. Among others he had
concerts in Hungary, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Romania Poland, Latvian, Russia, Norway,
Serbia, Croatia, Iceland and Japan. Since year 2016 he is a member of Gliere Quartett, together with
whom he is regularly giving concerts.
Endre F. Stankowsky is also showing great interest in the development of the next generation of
musicians, teaching in master classes and giving private lessons since he was 18 till the present.
Since 2017 he is solo-cellist in Hungarian State Opera, Budapest.
