Biography
Born in Taiwan, Murphy Chuang has been studying the cello since the age of seven and is currently studying in Massachusetts, USA. She has taken part in several orchestras such as New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory School (NEC-Youth Symphony Orchestra), Taipei Philharmonic Youth Ensemble (TPYE), and Milton Academy School Orchestra. Over the past few years, Murphy has participated and won in numerous local and international competitions including 2nd Prize in “2021 The 4th NY Solo Competition” Artist Category; Bronze in “2021 SRIMF Singapore Raffles International Music Festival” Youth Category; Gold Award in “2021 Canada Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition” Final Round; 3rd Place in “2021 KPIMC King‘s Peak Music Competition” Final Round; Gold Award in "2020 Japan Osaka International Music Competition” Section III Junior Course; Champion in “2020 Tokyo International Youth Music Competition 2020” Preliminary Around; Silver Award in “2019 Brilliant Talent Discovery Awards International Music Competition” and was invited to perform in the Gala Concert at The Esplanade Recital Hall, Singapore.
Murphy has been raising funds for “Sistema Taiwan” through charity recitals since 2020 to help underprivileged children in practicing music. She continues to pursue her passion for cello and music.
