Francisco Esteves

Biography

Francisco Esteves was born on the 10th of October 2002. He began his studies at the age of 8 on the National Conservatory in Lisbon, with Marilyn Correia Brito. At the age of 12, he proceeded his studies with Pedro Lopes until the age of 18, when he started his studies in th Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, with professor Barnabás Kelemen.

As a member of the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa (JOP, member of the EFNYO) from 2015 until 2019, Francisco had the opportunity to play in the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Ateneul Român in Bucharest. He was also invited to join the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (JONDE) in January 2021, and played in the Auditoria de Zaragoza and the Auditorio Nacional de España in Madrid.

Francisco has been recognized in many different competitions in Portugal, such as Concurso Internacional Cidade do Fundão and Concurso Vasco Barbosa, where he had the chance to play as a solosit with Camerata Atlântica and recorded to the Portuguese Radio. Francisco is also a member of the trio Da Caprio, winner of the Prémio Jovens Músicos (PJM) 2018, and played in the Grande Auditório in Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.

Francisco has had the opportunity to meet different teachers in masterclasses. He participated in local masterclasses in Lisbon, with professors Gwendolyn Massin, Roberto Valdez and Eliot Lawson, and in masterclasses abroad: professor Kiril Troussov in Mozarteum Sommerakademie, Salzburg; professor Zohrab Tadevosyan in Sommermusik im Oberen Nagoldtal; professor Ulf Schneider in Hannover; professor Barnabás Kelemen in Vienna; professor Krzysztof Wegrzyn in Altea.
