Biography
Slovenian harpist Taja Rijavec started to play the harp at the age of seven at the Conservatory of music and ballet Ljubljana with prof. Anja Gaberc.
In 2019 she graduated from Conservatory in Ljubljana and is now continuing her bachelor studies at Conservatorium Maastricht with prof. Anneleen Lenaerts.
Taja has already won various prizes at national and international competitions, some of them are Temsig competition (golden plaque, 3rd prize) International competition DHS (1st place, 1st prize), International competition of young musicians »Petar Konjević« (2nd prize and 3rd prize) and International competition Diapason d oro, 2. Concorso Internazionale Giovani Musicisti (2nd place).
Taja also took part in masterclasses led by prof. Marie-Pierre Langlamet, prof. Steven Fitzpatrick, prof. Nicoletta Sanzin, prof. Mariko Anraku...
Since the age of 14 she is also active as an orchestral harpist. She was a member of Symphonic orchestra KGBL with which she also had concerts in Germany, Austria and Hungary. She was also a member on Wind orchestra KGBL and Wind band of Consevatorium Maastricht.
She is also performing around Slovenia (Opera Ljubljana, Town hall Ljubljana, Koper, Bukovica...) as a soloist or as a member of chamber groups.
In 2018 she recived a scholarship for talented students from the Municipality of Ljubjana and since 2019, she is a scholar of the Ministry of Culture of Slovenia.
