Biography
Kira Elisabeth Koch, born 2010 in Berlin, comes from a family with German, Romanian, Hungarian and Japanese roots. She started playing the violin at the age of 5. She received her first violin lessons from Michiko Iiyoshi, and since 2017 she has been taught by Michiko Feuerlein and receives talent development from the Musikwerkstatt Eden in Oranienburg. Even before her 6th birthday, she won the 1st prize with full points at the "Jugend musiziert" competition. In 2019 and 2020 further first prizes followed at the competition "Jugend musiziert" as a soloist and in the rating for string duo. In 2020 and 2021, she won a first prize and a sponsorship prize at the nationwide Carl Schröder Competition in Sondershausen, respectively. At the international competition "Young Ludwig" she won the second prize and at this year's International Kocian Competition she won the 3rd prize. She also won the first prize at the "Dussmann Competition" and both a special prize for the interpretation of the contemporary work and the second prize at the "Carl Bechstein Competition" this year. She made her orchestral debut as a soloist at the age of 7 with the orchestra "Concerto" of the Musikwerkstatt Eden. Since August 2020, Kira has been a student at the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Music High School and plays in the Children's Orchestra of the Berlin State Opera.
