Biography

Curriculum vitae:

Mag. Benjamin Zumpfe, B.A. B.A. was born in 1995 in Vienna (Austria). At the age of six he started taking piano lessons. In 2014 he graduated with honors from Musikgymnasium Wien. He attended masterclasses of Prof. Roland Batik (2015: scholarship „Musik der Jugend“), Prof. Alma Sauer (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien) and Prof. Stan Ford (Mozarteum Salzburg). 

He received first prizes  (performance as well as composition) at national competitions ("Prima La Musica" and "Jugend Komponiert“). In 2015 he gave concerts in the context of the „Young Hearts For Music“-Tour (EMCY) in Austria and Germany. From 2015 onward he has been studying Composition with Prof. Herbert Lauermann and Prof. Detlev Müller-Siemens (student of G. Ligeti and O. Messiaen) at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (Mag.art.-graduation with distinction in 2021) where he also majored in Piano Pedagogy with Prof. Michael Rydholm (BA-graduation with honors 2019). In 2017 he started his third major studies in Piano Performance (Prof. Johannes Kropfitsch) at Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien (BA-graduation with honors 2021). In 2018 he played at Carte Blanche at Musikverein Wien and founded his piano duo „In Fide“ with Cansu Özdamar. With his piano duo, he won the competition of „musica juventutis“ in 2020, which enabled the duo a concert in the Wiener Konzerthaus. At another audition in 2020 he was chosen to play at a Bösendorfer-Salonkonzert. In 2021 he received prizes at international competitions (Duo as well as Solo), such as: Léopold Bellan Competition Paris: 1er Prix à l’unanimité, Osaka IMC in Wien: “Anerkennungsdiplom sowie Förderpreis inkl. Zulassung zum Finale”, Carles & Sofia Piano Competition: Silver Hands Award,  Danubia-Talents Liszt-Competition Budapest: 2. Prize, WPTA-Finland IPC: Bronze-Award.
