Irem Ozyigit

Biography

Irem Ozyigit, was born in 1997 in Izmir/Turkey.

In 2011, she started her education with Prof. Tahir Sumer in the main subject of double bass in the State Conservatory of Dokuz Eylul University.
In these years, she has always participated in the Youth Orchestra of the University and played in class concerts.
In 2013, she participated to Turkish-German-French Youth Orchestra with the conductor Naci Ozguc.
She participated in Bass2014 The European Bass Convention 4th Edition Amsterdam and had master classes with Alberto Bocini, Guiseppe Ettore, Petru Iuga and Hans Roelofsen. In 2016, she has performed concerts with Turkish Greek Youth Orchestra (GTYO) in Greece and Turkey under the conduction of Cem Mansur.
She continued her bachelor studies in Izmir at the State Conservatory of Dokuz Eylul University for two more years.
In August 2015, she participated in Christine Hoock's International Music Masterclass in Italy and performed in class concerts.
In 2017, she attended the 14th Bavarian Bass Camp and studied double bass chamber music with Alex Bayer, double bass orchestra with Claus Freudenstein and solo double bass with Christine Hoock and she played in concerts. In the same year she attended the International Rhodius Academy for Double Bass and had master classes and workshops with Catalin Rotaru, Alberto Bocini, Dorin Marc and Christine Hoock and she plays in concert. In 2017 she passed the entrance exam at the University Mozarteum Salzburg and started her studies in the double bass class of Prof. Christine Hoock. Between 2017-2021 she played in concerts with the class of Prof. Christine Hoock in Munich and Salzburg.

In 2019, she passed the substitute audition of the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck and started playing with the orchestra as a substitute. In 2020, she was accepted into the Pan Caucasian Youth Orchestra. In the same year, she was selected for the Istanbul Music Festival, Women Stars of Tomorrow project and performed a flute-contrabass duo concert at Sureyya Opera Istanbul. Between 2017-2021 she played regularly in orchestras such as the Mozarteum University Symphony Orchestra, the Bläserphilharmonie Mozarteum Salzburg, the Festival Orchestra Oper im Berg, the Bachwerk Vokal and the Philharmonie Salzburg. Currently she is an Akademist in Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal.
