Biography

Arne Zeller, born in October 2006, started playing cello at the age of six. From age 11 to 14, he was trained by Daniel Geiß at the University School of Music Mainz and entered the program for gifted young students at the University School of Music and Theatre Leipzig “Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy” joining the class of Professor Peter Bruns in March of 2021.

Between the age of 9 and 12 Arne won first prizes in the national music competition „Jugend musiziert“ with cello solo on both state and national level.
He received the 3rd prize and the special prize of the jury at 13 years old of the International Dotzauer Cello Competition in Dresden in October 2019. Being the youngest contestant of his age group, he won the 1st prize of the International Cello Competition „Anna Kull“ in Graz in February 2020 and several international online competition prizes thereafter.

A special interest connects Arne to chamber music: In a Duo with piano he received the first prize in the Southwest German Chamber Music Competition „Karel Kunc“ in 2020, the Duo was also awarded the first national prize of their age group in the national music competition 2021.
Arne was admitted to the Youth Orchestra of the State of Rhineland-Palatine at the age of 12 and to the National Youth Orchestra of Germany one year later, and joined the LGT Young Soloists this year. Early in 2020 he became a scholar of the International Academy of Music Berlin and holds another full scholarship of the International Music Academy Liechtenstein since the academic year 20/21.

Arne received additional impulses through masterclasses with Professor Ulrich Voss, Professor Ivan Monighetti, and Professor Jens Peter Maintz.

He is kindly supported by a loan of the „Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”, providing him with a French cello from 1883.
