Biography

Hallo, my name is Emilio Maria, I was born on 10/31/2005 and I began playing double bass at the age of five, under the guidance of my father. At the age of six I attended a stage with the famous double bass player Marc Dorin, who encouraged me to continue studying. I later attended stages with Davide Botto, Nuno Arrias, Stefano Pratissoli, Slawomir Grenda and expectally with Enrico Fagone.

I made my debut as a soloist at the age of nine with the “Fuoritempo Youth Orchestra” and I later played, again as a soloist, with the Orchestra of the "German Institute" of Alto Adige and with the “Musici di Parma" with whom, under the conduct of Enrico Fagone I performed the Domenico Dragonetti concert in 2018.

I won for two consecutive years the first prize in the international competition "Young Musicians" in the city of Treviso and in the international competition "Antonio Salieri" in Legnago (2017 and 2019). In 2018 I received the Special Jury Prize at the "Werther Benzi" National Competition in Alessandria and I won the first prize at the prestigious "European Bass Congress" in Lucca (President of the jury Maestro Franco Petracchi). In the same year (only double bass player admitted), I won the second prize in the competition for stringed instruments of the city of Pernik (Bulgaria) and following this experience I was invited by Petia Bagovska to play a recital at the Sofia Academy for the centenary of the birth of the double bass player Todor Toshev. 

In 2019 I won the “Premio delle Arti” for the best execution of a contemporary piece  and consequently of this I was invited to play the Rossini duet for cello and bass and the “Mosè Variation of Paganini” at the “Rovigo Cello City”. 

In Italy I played also several recitals at the “Mantova Summer Festival”, “Martellago Concerti in Villa" and “Festival Amici della Musica” in Borgo Valsugana).

In April 2019 in Bulgaria I performed as a soloist with the Blagoevgrad Orchestra the "Variations on Moses" and in the same year in Italy, with the orchestra "Musici di Parma”, under the conduct of Enrico Fagone, the Concerto by J.B. Vanhal.

At the age of nine, I was accepted at the conservatory “A. Bonporti ” of Trento in the course for young talents. I am currently a student at the pre-academic course of the same conservatory.
