Biography

Julia Stephan, born in 2002 in Berlin, received her first piano lessons at the age of 4 from her father, the church music director and pianist Wolfdietrich Stephan. Since 2013 she has been a young piano student at the Julius Stern Institute of the University of the Arts in Berlin with Astrid Lietz. In 2020, she switched to the piano class of Prof. Lucas Blondeel. 
As part of her musical development, she took part in the conducting class "Youth conducts" by Alexander Saier and participated as a conductor in various concerts in concert halls such as the Konzerthaus Berlin. She attended master classes as a pianist with Prof. Alfredo Perl, Prof. Elena Margolina-Hait and Prof. Sibylla Joedicke.
Julia won several first national prizes as well as special prizes at the "Jugend musiziert" competition in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021, including the special prize of the Havelland district and the special prize for the best performance in her category. She has also been a scholarship winner of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben since 2019. 
In 2020, she won the 2nd prize at the "International Piano Competition Youth" in Essen. In addition, she won the 2nd prize at the “7th international propiano online competition”. 
Julia Stephan is scheduled for the "Berlin Debut in the Clinker Lounge" as a pianist for ensembles. Furthermore, she was invited as a soloist for a concert with the "Underground Youth Orchestra" in Athens. She was also given the opportunity to play Grieg's Piano Concerto with the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Orchestra at the Philharmonie Berlin. 
Musical practice she acquires in the activity as a private piano teacher since 2016 and is active as a répétiteur of the "Golf-Chor Berlin".
