Biography

Jakow Pavlenko (*2003 in Berlin) has been trained since 2013 by Prof. Ina Kertscher at the ,,Institut zur Frühförderung musikalisch Hochbegabter” (IFF) at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media.

At his first participation in the national competition "Jugend musiziert" in 2016, he won first prize in the category "Violin Solo" with the highest score and a special prize from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. In the same year, he was awarded 3rd prize and the young talent prize in the German final of the competition for the 22nd Lions Music Prize.

In February 2017, Jakow Pavlenko emerged as the youngest prize-winner from the 25th competition of the German Musical Instrument Foundation of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and received a violin by Giuseppe Ornati, Milan 1924, as a loan. The Foundation presented him as the highest-rated new entrant at the prize-winners' concert broadcast on Deutschlandfunk and featured him in 2017 at its celebratory concert in the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, at the traditional summer concert on the island of Sylt and in 2018 at the awarding of the Charlemagne Prize to Emmanuel Macron, as well as in 2019 at the 3rd Chamber Music Festival in the Great Hall of the Elbphilharmonie. In addition, with the support of generous friends, the Foundation promotes Jakow through sponsorships.

Since 2015, the Foundation Jugend musiziert Niedersachsen has awarded Jakow Pavlenko several promotional prizes and a scholarship from the promotional prize "Note um Note", as well as the prize for the best performance in the state and national competitions.

At the national competition Jugend musiziert 2018, he won the special prize with the highest prize money, the Eduard Söring Prize of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben in the category Duo: Piano and a String Instrument. In 2018, Jakow Pavlenko took part in the master class of the Carl Flesh Academy with Prof. Saschko Gawriloff and received the Stennebrüggen Prize. At the "Competition Festival of Special Prizes" (WESPE) in Lübeck, he won a special prize from the Bertold Hummel Foundation in the category "Classical Modern". In addition, Jakow took part in the master class of the festival "Vier-Jahreszeiten Riehen" with Prof. Ingolf Turban. In November 2018, just 15 years old, he made his debut with great success in the Weinbrenner Hall of the Kurhaus Baden-Baden with Jean Sibelius' Violin Concerto under the baton of the eminent conductor Colin Metters with the Philharmonie Baden-Baden. In 2019, Jakow took part in the 27th competition of the German Musical Instrument Fund of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and again won a violin by Lorenzo Storioni, Cremona 1774 as the highest-scoring new entrant. At the national competition Jugend Musiziert 2019, he achieved 1st prize with the highest score and has since been a scholarship holder of the Juergen Ponto Foundation. Shortly afterwards, Jakow took part as an active participant in a master class by Prof. Ana Chumacenco as part of the Kronberg Academy. Within the framework of the Schloss Academy, he attended master classes given by famous and renowned violinists such as Prof. Viktor Tretjakov and Kirill Troussov. At the beginning of the last year, Jakow successfully participated in a master class given by Julia Fischer as part of the Starnberg Music Holidays. At the end of February he attended another master class by Prof. Viktor Tretjakov, this time at the Blackmore Academy in Berlin. In March, Jakow framed the Senate reception on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Commerzbank AG in Hamburg with several musical performances. After the nationwide lockdown, Jakow played at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival at the "Meisterschüler-MeisterKonzert" with the world-famous cellist Mischa Maisky
